SILMO Paris 2026 Recap: Eyewear Ideas Beyond the Show

Turning frame inspiration and material innovation into practical plans for growing eyewear brands.

Catalog

SILMO Paris 2026 has wrapped up, but the ideas that begin at an eyewear exhibition often take shape long after the show.

From September 25 to 28, Hisight Eyewear returned to Paris Nord Villepinte for our fourth consecutive appearance at SILMO Paris. This year, we exhibited at Booth 7B261 alongside our strategic materials partner, Regenesis Materials.

For our team, the exhibition brought together two important parts of eyewear development: the design possibilities that inspire new collections and the materials and manufacturing work needed to turn those ideas into finished products.

For independent eyewear labels, DTC brands and fashion businesses exploring eyewear, that connection matters. Finding a frame you like is one thing. Knowing how to develop it for your own brand is another.

Hisight at SILMO Paris 2026: Eyewear, Materials and Manufacturing

SILMO is an opportunity to see eyewear beyond a digital catalogue or product photograph.

Frame proportions, colors, surface finishes and small design details are easier to appreciate when products can be viewed up close. For brands planning a new collection, these details can provide a useful starting point for product development.

Hisight's participation also reflected the manufacturing work behind finished eyewear.

We support eyewear design and OEM/ODM production across multiple frame categories and materials. Our work extends from selecting or developing a frame to reviewing its structure, manufacturing requirements, finishing, assembly and quality control.

This year's joint participation with Regenesis Materials added another dimension to that work.

By bringing material innovation and eyewear manufacturing into the same exhibition setting, our partnership connects the possibilities of new materials with the practical requirements of making frames.

That is particularly relevant to brands exploring sustainable eyewear but still needing products that meet their design, quality and commercial requirements.

Exploring Sustainable Materials for Real Eyewear Applications

Sustainable materials can offer an interesting direction for an eyewear collection, but the material story alone is not enough.

Hisight's strategic collaboration with Regenesis Materials focuses on connecting innovative material systems with eyewear product development and manufacturing applications.

CARBONITE™ is one of the material technologies involved in this collaboration. Our work includes reviewing material compatibility with frame designs, manufacturing processes, surface finishing and product quality requirements.

For brands considering alternative materials, this raises practical questions.

Can the material work with the intended frame structure? What finish is achievable? What testing or documentation is available? Is the proposed application ready for sampling or does it require further development?

These questions are especially important for emerging brands that want to introduce responsible material choices without making unsupported environmental claims.

The suitability and validation status of a material need to be reviewed for each project. Sustainability information should be supported by the relevant material and product documentation.

Our collaboration with Regenesis is part of Hisight's ongoing work to connect material innovation with eyewear that brands can realistically develop.

From Exhibition Inspiration to a Brand-Ready Collection

An eyewear exhibition may leave a brand with several interesting frame references. The next decision is which ideas actually belong in its collection.

A fashion label introducing sunglasses for the first time may not need an extensive range. Two or three complementary styles, developed with a consistent visual direction, may be a more practical starting point.

An existing eyewear brand might instead want to refresh one of its product lines through new frame colors, lens tints or branding details.

Neither approach necessarily requires designing every component from scratch.

For private label eyewear projects, an existing frame can sometimes be adapted through color selection, lens options, logo applications and packaging. More distinctive shapes or structural requirements may call for custom OEM development.

The important distinction is between what inspires the collection and what needs to be developed specifically for the brand.

A reference photograph can communicate the intended look. A useful product brief goes further, clarifying the frame material, preferred colors, lens requirements, branding, expected quantity and target market.

These details help determine which development route is realistic before a brand commits to sampling.

For fashion and lifestyle businesses considering a compact first collection, our guide to building an eyewear capsule collection explores this process in more detail.

What Happens After the Show? Start with the Right Sample

For brands developing their next collection after SILMO Paris 2026, the most useful next step is often a sample discussion.

Hisight supports different development routes depending on the design and customization requirements.

For ODM projects using existing molds or available components, minimum order quantities are typically around 100–300 pieces per style. Sample development generally takes about two to three weeks, depending on the specific requirements and available materials.

A fully customized OEM frame may require new tooling, more extensive development and higher order quantities. Timelines and costs need to be reviewed against the design before a project proceeds.

These are indicative project ranges rather than fixed commitments for every frame.

If you already have a reference style, our team can review which details could be achieved with an existing design and which would require additional development.

For a closer comparison of the two approaches, see our OEM vs ODM sunglasses guide.

Continuing the Conversation Beyond Paris

Thank you to everyone who took the time to connect with Hisight during SILMO Paris 2026.

The exhibition has ended, but we look forward to continuing conversations around eyewear design, materials and future product development.

If you are planning a new sunglasses collection, refreshing an existing range or considering eyewear for your fashion or lifestyle brand, you do not need a completed technical drawing to begin.

Share your preferred frame references, approximate order quantity, branding ideas and target market. Our team can help review the appropriate starting point, from existing ODM styles to custom sample development.

Whether we met in Paris or you are discovering Hisight for the first time, we would be pleased to hear what you are working on.
